MathMagic Pro Edition for Adobe InDesign is an equation editor mainly for use with Adobe InDesign software in editing any mathematical expressions and symbols with WYSIWYG interface and various powerful features.

- MathMagic Pro Edition v4.31 installer comes with 2 plug-ins for both InDesign 2.0 and CS. But the Easy Install option does not install the InDesign 2.0 plugin in the Plug-ins folder automatically. Please use Custom Install option or manually copy it into Plug-ins folder.
- MathMagic v4.3 comes with new MathMagic fonts v2.4. So, please be aware of using these new fonts(v2.4) when you need to print previously created equations since they might have some layout reflow.
- Since MathMagic Pro Edition v4.2, MathMagic Pro is now divided into two: MathMagic Pro Edition for QuarkXPress and MathMagic Pro Edition for Adobe InDesign.
- MathMagic v4.1 or newer comes with additional Trial period(5 times) even though your previous trial period was over. So please try again if you are interested in the day by day improvements of the latest versions.

- Added: +100% & -100% items added to the View menu for an easier change of view rate.
- Fixed: Preview button on the Define Spacing dialog does not redraw the window correctly somtimes and Undo count increased too often.
- Fixed: a few bugs related to File Open/Save are fixed.
- Final version of MathMagic InDesign CS plugin is added to the installer

- Added: MathMagic fonts are revised to v2.4 and some new symbols are added in the MathMagic fonts. New fonts has some additional symbols and some of the font information including baseline position have been adjusted to align symbols better with characters. So, please be aware of using these new fonts(v2.4) when you need to print previously created equations since they might have some layout reflow. The new MathMagic fonts are compatible with previous versions of MathMagic application, and previous versions of MathMagic application work with the new v2.4 MathMagic fonts.
- Added: Matrix Reloaded submenu is added to Format menu, allowing users to delete row/column, add row/column when the cursor is located in a matrix.
- Added: 2 new Fence Alignment options are added: Fence height is not variable but fixed.
- Added: Equation from MathMagic XTension window can be copied and then pasted into MathMagic application window directly, without saving it as an external .MMF file.
- Added: Alert dialog window displayed when you open a newer version or old version document.
- Fixed: Size conversion loss is minimized over unit conversions in the Spacing dialog.
- Fixed: Two empty boxes were overlapped a little when they were adjacent.
- Fixed: 8-bit 1-byte character, like special characters for European, is handled better in the MathMagic editor window.
- Fixed: Superscript/Subscript box is now closer to its left base character.
- Fixed: Message for missing fonts is fixed.

1. Installing
- Install MathMagic Pro Edition and MathMagic Plug-in with the MathMagic Pro installer.
- Make sure that MathMagic
plug-in is installed in the following
location.
local:Applications:Adobe InDesign:Plug-ins:Equations:
2. Creating Equations
- Launch Adobe InDesign application(v2.0.1 or higher is recommended).
- Make a new InDesign document
or open a document.
- Select the Plug-ins menu
-> MathMagic sub-menu.
- Choose "New Equation" item
to create an equation.
If the cursor is located in the text box,
the equation will be inserted in the cursor
position as an In-line Graphic(ILG). Otherwise,
the equation will be placed as an EPS
graphic on where you click the mouse.
- You may select the Sigma
tool button from the floating main toolbar
to create an equation box, and then drag
a rectangle in the document to specify
the location of an equation once created
by the external MathMagic Pro.
- You may also control-click(or
right button click) while the cursor is
in the text box, so that you can choose
the "New Equation" from the contextual
menu.
- If you either select "New
Equation" menu or drag a rectangle with
th Sigma tool, MathMagic Pro application
will be launched, if not running already,
and an empty equationd editor window will
be opened. In case MathMagic Pro application
is not launched automatically within a
few seconds, please launch the application
manually from the following location.
:Applications:MathMagic Pro Edition:MathMagic Pro v4.1
- Enter any equation in the MathMagic editor window, and then Close(cmd-W) or Save(cmd-S) the window. This will send the equation to the InDesign document back.
3. Editing Equations
- Choose "Edit Equation..."
item to edit the currently selected equation.
Or, just double-click on the equation
box to open it with the external MathMagic
Pro application for editing. You may also
control-click on the equation to bring
up the contextual menu, after changing
the cursor to the Arrow tool.
- After creating or editing
of equation with the external MathMagic
Pro, just close the equation editor window
so that the equation is placed in the
InDesign document.
4. Changing the Baseline and Bounding margins
- The baseline of all equations
will be automatically adjusted. But if
you want to lower or raise the baseline,
you may do so.
- just change the cursor
to the arrow cursor and move the equation
box by dragging to where you desire,
or
- control-click on the
equation box to bring up the contextual
menu, and then select "Shift Baseline"
item, or
- select an equation
box and choose "Shift Baseline" menu
from the MathMagic plug-in menu
- You may also customize the bounding margin gaps(left, right, top, bottom) of the equation, by specifying other value from the last item of Define Spacing window.
