MathMagic Pro Edition is newly branched from MathMagic Personal Edition since v3.5, to support Adobe InDesign. Most of the features are similiar to the Personal Edition. But Pro Edition comes with a MathMagic Plug-in which is installed in the InDesign's Plug-ins folder. The MathMagic Plug-in adds the MathMagic menu UI in the InDesign's Plug-ins menu and it interacts with the external MathMagic Pro application for equation editing.
MathMagic v4.0 does not rely on InterLok copy protection engine any more. So it will ask you to "Authorize" again when you launch it even though you have authorized your previous copy of MathMagic on your computer. Please use the previous "Customer #" and "Serial #" for the authorization, if you bought MathMagic in the past. Otherwise, you may use MathMagic as "Trial" mode up to 30 times before you decide to buy.
MathMagic v4.0 will ask you to download a newer version when a newer version is released. And then it will be expired.

Gray scale EPS is supported under Export menu when exporting gray or color equations in EPS format.
The name of EPS files created by MathMagic Plugiin is now more readable and it has .eps extension for better compatibility. Equation contained EPS files name like: EQ-MMDD-xxxxx.eps, where MMDD is Month and Date, xxxxx is a unique random number. Empty equation EPS files name like EQ#MMDD-xxxxx.eps.
Color style name is supported separately for each localized MathMagic.

MathMagic Plugin now creates .eqdb folder only when one or more equations are used in the document.

TCP/IP related error messages are now handled smarter and more user-friendly.

Fixed: Equations can not be created or edited when there is any 2byte characters in the InDeisgn document file name or somewhere in the directory path name.

Fixed: MathMagic Pro application was not launched correctly even though the path was specified in the Preference dialog.

Fixed: Color equations not inserted in the InDesign document thru the Plugin until MathMagic Pro first export equation to color EPS.
Fixed: Baseline was not correct in EPS format when some mathematical operators were used in the equation.

Fixed: Reassigning a color name on Mac OS 9 not working.
Fixed: Font size -> Other Size item of Main toolbar did not bring the custom setting dialog box.
Some other minor bugs fixed and some error message improved.

| 1. Installing
Install MathMagic Pro Edition and MathMagic Plug-in with the MathMagic Pro installer.
Make sure that MathMagic
plug-in is installed in the following
location.local:Applications:Adobe InDesign:Plug-ins:Equations:

 2. Creating Equations

Launch Adobe InDesign application(v2.0.2
or higher is recommended).
Make a new InDesign document
or open a document.
Select the Plug-ins menu
-> MathMagic sub-menu.
Choose "New Equation" item
to create an equation. If the cursor is located in the text box,
the equation will be inserted in the cursor
position as an In-line Graphic(ILG). Otherwise,
the equation will be placed as an EPS
graphic on where you click the mouse.
You may select the Sigma
tool button from the floating main toolbar
to create an equation box, and then drag
a rectangle in the document to specify
the location of an equation once created
by the external MathMagic Pro.
You may also control-click(or
right button click) while the cursor is
in the text box, so that you can choose
the "New Equation" from the contextual
menu.
If you either select "New
Equation" menu or drag a rectangle with
th Sigma tool, MathMagic Pro application
will be launched, if not running already,
and an empty equationd editor window will
be opened. In case MathMagic Pro application
is not launched automatically within a
few seconds, please launch the application
manually from the following location.:Applications:MathMagic Pro Edition:MathMagic Pro v4.0

Enter any equation in the MathMagic editor window, and then Close(cmd-W) or Save(cmd-S) the window. This will send the equation to the InDesign document back.

 3. Editing Equations

Choose "Edit Equation..."
item to edit the currently selected equation.
Or, just double-click on the equation
box to open it with the external MathMagic
Pro application for editing. You may also
control-click on the equation to bring
up the contextual menu, after changing
the cursor to the Arrow tool.
			After creating or editing
of equation with the external MathMagic
Pro, just close the equation editor window
so that the equation is placed in the
InDesign document.

 4. Changing the Baseline and Bounding margins

			The baseline of all equations
will be automatically adjusted. But if
you want to lower or raise the baseline,
you may do so.

				just change the cursor
to the arrow cursor and move the equation
box by dragging to where you desire,
or
				control-click on the
equation box to bring up the contextual
menu, and then select "Shift Baseline"
item, or
				select an equation
box and choose "Shift Baseline" menu
from the MathMagic plug-in menu
You may also customize the bounding margin gaps(left, right, top, bottom) of the equation, by specifying other value from the last item of Define Spacing window.
